About
Grapevine Wreath is a free collection of handmade gift ideas with step-by-step instructions. Every guide is written for people who have never made a gift by hand, or who would like a small, practical project that does not need special equipment.
The name comes from the domain the site lives on. The subject is handmade gifts in general: small sewn projects, paper projects and simple decorated objects. It is not a wreath-making site.
What you will find here
- Starting guides on choosing a first project, putting together a basic kit of supplies, the four hand stitches most projects use, and wrapping a handmade gift.
- Step-by-step projects in fabric, felt and paper, such as coasters, sachets, bookmarks, keychains, a drawstring bag, a hand-bound notebook and a paper gift bag.
- Personalized and seasonal ideas: monograms, gift tags, stenciled bags, and projects matched to the time of year and to specific holidays.
If you are new, the best place to begin is Handmade Gift Ideas for Beginners, followed by the guide to basic supplies. The full list of guides is on the Gift Tutorials page.
How the guides are written
Each tutorial lists the materials at the top, describes one action per step, explains why the step matters, and points out where beginners most often go wrong. Sizes are given in inches and centimeters and are suggestions, not requirements.
No invented timings. We do not say how long a project takes, because that depends on the person making it. For glue, paint and fabric paint, drying and setting instructions differ from product to product, so the guides ask you to follow the label of the product you are using.
No claims about recipients. We describe what each item is, how to make it and what it is useful for. We do not promise how anyone will react to a gift, and we do not publish invented stories, reviews, ratings or testimonials.
Safety and suitability. We do not claim that a finished item is washable, heat-resistant, child-safe or suitable for any particular use. Where a project involves needles, pins, small parts, magnets, dried plant material or a recycled can, the guide says so, and it suggests telling the recipient what the gift is made of.
Illustrations. The images on this site are simplified drawings made to show shapes, materials and the order of steps. They are diagrams, not photographs of finished pieces, and real fabric and paper will look different.
Designs. The projects use simple, generic shapes and traditional techniques. We do not reproduce other makers’ commercial patterns.
Corrections and suggestions
If a step is unclear, a measurement looks wrong or a link is broken, please tell us through the Contact page. Clear instructions matter more to us than anything else on the site, and corrections are always welcome.
